I was kinda dragged to this one but I enjoyed it up till the climax. It was way to short, I wasn't expecting a big huge action/chase scene but still there should have been more than the short moment of excitement they had in that movie.

No, I caught onto this half-assed affair after a single viewing. I just don't see the sense in not calling a spade a spade. This movie is total bullshit. The only thing that makes the title work is that the dude is a wannabe father-figure and he pushed an old woman down some steps...* *-- I can't take credit for that. If you think this movie is good in any way, then you're as stupid as the titular character is both crazy >AND stupid. First and foremost, the title doesn't even make sense because they're NOT FUCKING MARRIED!!! He can't be "The Stepfather" if he's just a live-in boyfriend, so right there this thing falls flat. Second, the complete absence of any blood in this movie does nothing to help matters as the opening scene (which destroys any element of suspense or surprise) looks as if the entire family just fell asleep. This isn't to say that gore is necessary, but the manner in which this crime is presented makes it seem less like a murder scene and more like hereditary narcolepsy. Third, there is NO ONE to root for in this movie. The entire family is a black hole of personality, we know from the outset that mom's boyfriend is a murderer, and the ex-husband is an asshole. Oh, your mom's boyfriend killed your dad? WHO THE FUCK CARES!!?! He treated your mom like shit! So if he didn't die, he still deserved a solid punch in the dick!! Fuck that guy!!! And fuck your mom's new boyfriend for being too stupid to know how to turn off a cellphone. We're supposed to buy that this jackass has evaded police capture for months, but he can't put a fucking phone on silent? And the NUMBER 1 rule of getting away with murder is DON'T STORE BODIES IN THE GODDAMNED HOUSE!!!!! Cyrus and Leon, clearly you guys haven't seen the original and neither have I, admittedly. But based solely on what little I've seen and read about it, you two were far too easy on this vapid piece of shit. Dylan Walsh's performance is about as fuck-tarded as the script forces him to be, and Amber Heard is goddamned worthless. The role she plays could've been filled by any other young actress and you wouldn't have noticed a difference outside of maybe skin tone. With the shots used in this movie, a camel toe is a camel toe. Simply put, she doesn't a fucking thing in this movie except allow the camera to objectify her. That's not acting. And this is not a good movie. This isn't a noteworthy movie, and it doesn't even have a noteworthy moment. This remake of a little-known late 80's thriller manages to be even more forgettable than its predecessor, and it just got released. This is the epitome of "Some Ol' Bullshit." Not bad enough to warrant a "Fuck You!!!" by any means, but definitely not worth your time.
