@CULT STATUS - It really depends on the film. My favorite thing is to go to the very first Sunday morning showing of a movie, because almost no one is ever in the theater and it feels like a private screening for yours truly. However, if it's a comedy or a big action movie, etc I like to go with as many people as possible because it's always more fun that way. Especially if it's at one of the Alamo Drafthouses here in Austin - much better with a crowd.

Yaknow, as much as I love this site and listen to all you "guyziz" oppinions of film I just realized that I havent watched any movies in the theater for a long ass time. I think I'll buy a ticket to Saw today and try to sneak into paranormal activity and where the wild things are while i'm at it. I need to get my bitchass back in the theater. Hey, just out of curiosity. Does anybody else prefer to go to the theater alone. I cant watch a movie in the theater any other way buy by myself. I cant even go with a girlfriend.

Man I cannot freakin' stand people who get pissed off over goddamn opinions. Of course not everyone in the entire world is going to like and/or dislike the same thing. We're humans. We're different. That's what makes us interesting. How boring would it be to live in a world where everyone loved the same thing?! That would lead to really uncreative and shitty books/movies/music/EVERYTHING. It's fine to defend a movie but to insult someone b/c they don't like it or to give them shit about not liking something is so childish and annoying. Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. I have yet to see Wild Things b/c it's not coming out here in Japan and will just have to wait until Xmas. I hope I like it but I've heard from people I trust that it's just 'okay.' We'll see.

Paranormal Activity proves that Big money has nothing to do with Big Art.

I don't get the whole Paranormal Activity phenomena. The movie isn't even scary - it's just cheesy homebrew special effects and some creaking boards. Are people really that skittish? My favorite parts were when the Ouija board maaaagically lights on fire (ooooooOOOOoooo... spoooooky DEMON fire), and when they watch the obviously digitally aged footage of the "failed exorcism" on the computer (I think that film grain/vignette effect was a preset on most freeware editing software). Halfway through, I actually started rooting for the demon. Those main characters were both total toolbags.

I definitely agree that most people will probably agree that his best films are The Thing and Halloween, but I have to disagree with you on Vampires being "meh". I absolutely love that film, and James Woods was fantastic. It's actually one of my favorite Carpenter films, along with Big Trouble In Little China and The Thing. I think it gets knocked around having been released in such close proximity to Blade (which actually featured a few cast members from Vampires, like Tim Guinee and actor/stuntman, Henry Kinji), and yeah, Blade's a much better film, but Vampires still has a lot going for it in my opinion.

Funny, a friend of mine who went off to college texted me last night and said that she saw >The Haunting and talked about how creepy it was and I just had to be "Fuck yeah, it's creepy". Now I definitely need to see that again.

@Trip Aces Although Carlyle said he didn't see Italian Boy, Carlyle did see "Who Do You Think You Are Fooling" >
Find more videos like this on Fanerdity Flicks
They spoke about it on a previous Acoco but the one with the ripped scene from "Italian Boy" is And I agree with Carlyle, "In The Mouth Of Madness" is an underrated Carpenter film and one of my favorites, as well as "Prince Of Darkness which is on Cinemax On Demand, and "They Live".

Great ACOCO, I can't wait to watch The Road and The Fantastic Mr. Fox. also great that Paranormal Activity is doing really well ( havent seen it yet ), that's really gonna inspire a lot of young Horror filmmakers to make FEATURE-LENGTH movies with budgets less than 20 grand, and obviously I'm sure there's going to be Paranormal Activity rip-offs, but.... people you can be extremly creative with 10 thousand dollar budgets, It's possible, I don't think I'll do it, but I know there are lot these horror filmmakers with maybe two or three films out there that were made with 100 grand budgets that don't wanna do creative and new things and they're only excuse is that they don't have Hollywood budgets.

Korey, don't beat yourself up about those folks who feel bad about your reviews of their movies. They did the awesome effects, but they unfortunately invested themselves in the script, which, according to most people, was not all that great. That's neither your fault or theirs. Stick to your guns.

Go Paranormal Activity. I'm glad it's doing so well.

I'm really curious about the Road because if I am not mistaken a majority of the book involves what the man is thinking and observing. It is literally one long slow starvation process. The structure of the way he writes is a bit repetitive but I understand why its designed that way. Seems very difficult to film but if the cast and crew nailed it, that's awesome.
