Just another vehicle for Russell Crowe to display his strongest note. Although, the dude is a great actor. Just wish he'd make broader choices with his career. Having said that, didn't see the movie, so I can't comment on it, didn't have any desire to either.

While I wouldn't go as far as SOBS, the movie did nothing for me at all. It feels like a lot of Ridley Scott's other movies and in no way convinces you its Robin Hood (let alone it's a true story). It's not awful, its just nothing special. Rating: RENTAL

I have to disagree a little bit there with the spill crew even though these guys are awesome, this movie was ok, it sure as hell beats Robin Hood: Men In Tights, the action was poor but still pretty good, and for those who expected this movie to be like Gladiator,...well its not but worth watching it does have its boring parts, I would give this movie a Rental..anyways people add me as a friend check out my free movies on my page

ibro, the concept of "promoting" seems to have flown over your head. Or, more accurately, through it. They used this "promoting" thing to build expectations for a movie, so that people actually WATCH it. Would you watch any movie if you didn't expect anything from it? The problem here is that they did not accurately portray the movie in there promotional material, making it seem like a standard action film with a Robin Hood theme. It would be like me telling you I can make the greatest ham sandwich on rye in the world, then giving you Subway instead. Sure, Subway is okay, but it isn't what you expected. It isn't what you were essentially promised to receive.

I love your guys reviews but....don't you read movie news? How do you review a movie as bad because it feels like a prequel... When it's supposed to be a prequel!! It's going to lead to another movie, those are their plans...

I must say that seeing this review prior to the movie made me like the movie a little more than the Spill Crew did. I would've been totally pissed if I went into the theater expecting an actual Robin Hood story.

True this film did not have the sense of adventure and fun that accompanied all previous Robin Hood films but I did enjoy it for what it was worth. It was really Robin Hood Begins than anything else. It was not so much the legend of the character as the prequel to the legend and I liked that idea. Still I agree that although Crowe was miscast for this part, he still did a decent job. Originally he was supposed to play the sheriff of nottingham and I think he would have fit that part better. Still the acting was top notch, the story engaging, and the action was fun. Still in the end its major problem was that it just did not feel like a robin hood film and many times would drag. Lots of people reference Gladiator but to me this felt nothing like Gladiator in the slightest. Very few similarities besides main actor and time period. My issue was that it just didn't feel like Robin Hood. I would give it a LOW MATINEE

All I need to say is that the movie wasn't terrible but it wasn't even close to good and i agree with spill that if was shorter it would have been better it just didn't interest me in really anyway. I wanted to like this movie but most of the characters were generic, and the action scenes weren't anything i haven't so I'd give it a rental

Goddamit. Spill reviewers just lost my respect. First of all, how do you judge a movie? You're judging it because it wasn't what you expected?? That is STUPID SHIT. It was good as it was. How many flaws could you point out? That movie was boring? or you weren't paying attention. "It was lacking adventure" so what?? It was still good. I understand that you were expecting a large amount of 'adventure' because it's called Robin Hood. Ridley Scott did it his own way and did bloody good at it. A movie's flaws should be bad acting, bad script, bad dialogue etc not 'i didnt get what i expected' Honestly man, Some ole bullshit?? because you didnt get what you expected??

I haven't seen the film as it hasn't come out in Japan yet. Might catch it just to see how bad it is. My beef is the trend in movies with the "see the story behind the legend" type tag line and what follows is something that hardly has any resemblance to the legend or the truth - case in point that King Arthur crapfest some years ago. As much as I like Ridley Scott he must have hated history when he was in school as he loves to abuse it. I can understand taking liberties for the sake of a story and I'm not one to quibble over nitpicky stuff like wrong buttons on costumes but he just flat out rewrites history as though it really happened. Here he has the French invade England in a D-Day reversal and the Magna Carta brought up 15 years earlier. In Kingdom of Heaven he had Muslims and Christians living harmoniously in Jerusalem while his Balien/Bloom character had very little in common with the original Balien who never went to France nor was a bastard blacksmith nor did he snub Richard the Lionheart but and was actually with him during the Third Crusade. The most heinous crime though was in Gladiator when he made it sound as though the Roman Empire became a Republic once again ie like an American democracy at the end of the film. And what's bad is the thickwits who watch those films and actually think all of it happened that way.

It actually is a lot like the first instances of the Robin Hood story from the 12th century.

If its anywhere near as boring as the King Arthur movie I'll definately give it a miss.

Haven't seen the movie yet. But damn, from the previews it looked like it'd get a way better review than this.

FUCK YES. THANK YOU. I have never been bored in a movie, I've never fallen asleep in a movie/walk out of a movie; for whatever reason I just can't do it. But after watching this piece of sh*t i nearly walked out halfway through the movie. The main problems I had with the movie was the fact that SO MANY scenes were taken from other movies and the fact that there was absolutely no character development, so you didn't really care for any of the characters.

This was a horrible movie. The only two good action scenes were too short and the rest was boring conversation and talking trying to be funny.

This was a horrible Robin Hood movie but a decent movie, to explain it better anyone who knows the legend of robin hood will think that this was a flaming pice of shit but if u dont know u ll probaly enjoy it. Even that as a movie it has its flaughs( the cliche "fall in love scenes" where they r forced to sleep on the same room and pretend to be maried, and the kids that show up at the begining and out no where show up again at the end) But if u r like me and know the legend of robin hood and spended the last scene of battle wandering " WHY THE FUCK s the charcter that s supose to be the greatest archer ever fighting with a sword on the beach" u ll probaly hate this. To sume it up this movie needs to have 1 change, its name ,cause this s not a robin hood movie simply has no conection with the charcter or the history
