Aw man c'mon, it was a feel good film, I had a lot of fun watching this film. I watched this in an outdoor cinema with a lot of families and at the end of it, everyone was on their feet and singing along. Although some of the songs went on for way too long, like The Winner Takes It All, it was an enjoyable family film. I'd give it a high matinee.

My parents forced me to see this movie. Easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Stupid & pointless plot, awful choreography, average singing (even after auto-tuning), and worst of all, cheesy annoying pop songs that eat your sanity long after the torture of seeing it. What's even worse is, the rest of my family loved it, and always shout me down whenever I speak against it. This is some ole bullshit, and that's being nice to it.

Agian though I normally hate musicals. As a whole I only like West Side Story and Phantom of the Opera. But something could be reedeemable about it hopefully. I haven't seen it so I don't know. I'm just interested in the cast (although yes Pierce clearly can't sing).

MAYBE it could be good enough for me to watch. I don't like very many musicals, but it looks like they did work hard. I loved how they cast the actors who played the dads! We have Pierce Brosnan (the last James Bond), Stellan Skarsgard (Bootstrap Bill and Father Merrin in the Exorcist prequels and my personal favorite actor), and Colin Firth (haven't seen a whole lot of his movies but he is good).

I adore musicals, i live for the theatre lol. But this?...Some old bull shit. The plot is thin, the singing is terrible, and what's with the dancing friendly greeks?

I love disco. I love ABBA. I love musicals, stage and film alike. When I went to go see this movie, I was really rooting for it. I hoped to high heavens that it would be two hours of fabulous fluff and dancing. This film betrayed me. From the moment the title erupted into a thousand shards of glitter, I had a feeling what I was about to witness would utterly disturb me. I was right. Now I can't say anything about the script, because that goes back to the play. However, the directing was poor, the editing was dull, the acting was lifeless at best and absolutely fake at the worst. It pained me to watch some brilliant actors (I'm going to skip over names to save time) wallow through this filth with the most Crest-whitened shit-eating grins I've ever seen. There was no chemistry between the characters, even among the women who were supposed to be best friends for seven hundred years. The lead actress was about as convincing in her performance as a Barbie Doll. The leading men all seemed like they were chaffing the entire film, and seemed very out of place with their roles. About half way through I realized I had zoned out from my utter boredom, and had to ask my friend what was happening. She was unable to fill me in, of course, because the story was horrendously skewed amongst the layers of whale's bile. You could not pay me to watch this movie again.

If you don't care for fun cheezy musicals, and if you don't like Abba, then don't go see the film, plain and simple. Let those of us who actually enjoy disco music and especially enjoyed the stage version to have fun watching Meryl Streep and Christine Baranski put on a fun show. Not every film has to have some significant depth to it - for God's sake, does the idea of watching fun fluff not exist anymore? There's not much else they could have done to this story/film to make it any better, because this is how it was meant to be. Again, if you don't like ABBA, stay away from it, it won't kill you.
